Advantages: gives more information than just weight

Disadvantages: Not sure about accuracy of body water

I have had these scales for a couple of years now. They are fairly accurate - they work best on a wooden or hard floor though they say you can use them on carpet.

With my old manual scales i used to be able to lean back and it would look like i was about 3 pounds lighter, with these ones you can maybe lose half a pound or so by wiggly about on the scales (yes i know this is pointless but sometimes you just want to see the lowest number possible to make yourself feel better!) but ultimately they are alot more accurate than manual scales. So much so that 2 of my friends always weigh themselves when they come over to my house!.

As well as giving your weight it also tells you your BMI (body mass index, body fat and body water amounts. In order to use this function you have to input some information about yourself when you set the scales up (it has options to input up to 10 peoples data). You need to give your age, height and fitness level and then the readings it gives will supposedly be more accurate.

In terms of the body water amount - i take this with a pinch of salt. You have to have bare feet for it to work and it apparantly senses through your toes how much water is in your body. I'm a bit sceptical on that one to be honest! Though to be fair both my friend and I got very different readings (and i am the one who doesn't drink enough water and sure enough my body water reading was lower than hers!)

They are easy to turn on - you just lightly tap once with your foot, weight for the display to show then step on.

There is a switch on the back that lets you choose whether you want to be weighed in kilograms or stone.

I bought mine in the sale and they were only £20 - they are now £29.99 in Argos but they seem to be the indentical scales to the ones i bought in Argos 2 years ago for £20. For £20 they are an absolute bargain. For nearly £30 i'm not sure i would buy them, however now i have them i would be loathe to give them up.

Summary: Pretty good scales if you are looking for more information than just your weight
