Advantages: Small, easy, stylish

Disadvantages: Not the cheapest

The Points calculator is a valuable tool in my opinion if you are following the points plan by Weight Watchers.

The points system is simple. Everyone has an allocated points allowance for a day this is based upon your weight, height, age, sex and your lifestyle (i.e if you sedentary, active).

Each food can be given a points value. This is based on a calculation using the calories and saturated fat values of the item.

When joining WW you are given a points finder this is a cardboard slide which works out point values for you so you do not need to buy the calculator to do the diet. However, it has its limitations as it obviously can not cover all calorie and saturated fat options.

The calculator is £7.95 if you attend the meeting. You can also buy them from the WW website or Ebay but they are more expensive.

The new version of the calculator is much sleeker than it has been previous. Its about the size of your palm and is silver with purple stripes and buttons. It is much nicer to pull this out of your handbag in the supermarket than a tatty piece of cardboard and it is inconspicous as so many people these days use calculators when shopping.

Its extremley simple to use you just press the "cals" button and pop in the number of calories and then press the "SF" button and put in the saturated fat amount, press points and your points value is shown on the screen. Some products don't have saturated fat shown so in these cases WW recommend that you just half the normal fat amount.

In my view this makes this is a must have when following the diet and definately jelpts to keep you on track.

Summary: A brilliant weight loss tool.

Never leave home without it - I have used it in the sweet shop to work out whether to buy minstrels (4.5 points) or revels (3.5) hahaha!!!!
