Advantages: Everything, Daily Tracker, Calculator

Disadvantages: Nothing

I used to survive trying to work out my favourite foods using the little cardboard points calculator that you get at your first meeting or searching on the internet for someone who knew the answer.

The best thing I did for my diet was buying one of these babies. I have the small square calculator with the multi coloured stripes on it. When you purchase your calculator, you fill out a little form for them to prove you are who you say you are. They also advise you now that if you do have any problems with the calculator, your leader cannot refund the money or exchange it. The calculator has to be sent away to WeightWatchers directly and they will take the necessary action. You can also purchase a calculator from the WeightWatchers website (www.weightwatchers.co.uk).

Each calculator comes in a box with instructions although it is very easy to use and I didnt find I had to use the instructions much. You can work out any points value in any food as long as you have the calorie content and the saturated fat content. Even if you do not have the saturated fat content, you can halve the fat content to get an estimation of the saturdated fat. Obviously this is not entirely accurate but it will give you a guideline to the points value you are about to devour!

You turn the calculator on and press the points button. The word calories will appear in the top left hand corner. Input your calories and press enter. Then sat fat appears under where calories is. You input this number and press enter and it gives you the points value of your food. It really is that easy. The keypad has the basic functions of calculator buttons on this (which you can also use this for, a basic calculator so it is very handy to have in your handbag or pocket). I found it very well set out as the WW function buttons are a different colour to the normal calculator buttons so your not trying to figure out what button does what.

There is a function on this calculator to use as your daily tracker. I dont personally use this as I find it a little too confusing and I prefer to write everything down I have eaten, so if I have went wrong somewhere on the day, I know where it is!

To track on this, you simply press the ND button (new day) and enter your points allowance for that day. When you use a point you simply press the USE button, add the points value and press enter and it deducts it from your daily allowance. You can check how many points you have left by pressing the PL (points left) button at any time.

Like I said previously, this part of the calculator doesnt personally work for me. I find I have better weight losses when I can see what I am troughing!

I find this calculator to be the most helpful piece of equipment you can buy from WeightWatchers. You dont have to miss out on your favourite foods because you dont know a points value when you have this. You get some very nice suprises also. Things you thought you would never be able to eat again because reachable because of the ratio of saturated fat to calories.

I would advise anyone to buy one of these. They are fantastic.

Summary: Well worth the buy

A good tip for losing weight (if anyone needs to) is to eat very slowly. Cut food into half the size you normally would before chomping on it. An chew it twice as long. That apparantly makes you feel full very quickly. So they say.
