I have not taken Zyban but in my work I have researched it and guess what, I bet it will not be as magical as the adverts make out. The benefit is that it may help people stop smoking but there must be a drawback surely. Well yes there is a) it is not as good as peolple who smoke hope, we expect it to be twice as good as the patches but wait I hear you cry isn't that brilliant. Well that means we expect about a 10% quit rate not 5%. The cost however to the patient may be huge, there is a 1 in 1000 chance of a fit- not much well yes but remember one fit and you are banned from driving for a whole year or more. Now that could be a huge cost.
Don't get me wrong I think taht stopping smoking is a huge health issue but I hope that smokers don't get lulled into thinking Zyban is a shortcut, it still, I am afraid boils down to that old chestnut, willpower. I am afraid the safest way to stop completely is to stop completely.
