This is a new treatment available on the National Health so as I am only into my 5th day of taking the tablets I can't tell you if they work or not, but I can tell you about them if you haven't already heard.

Apparantly they have been using this drug for giving up smoking in America for the last 5 years but it has only just become available to us in this country recently, and yes it's available on the national health via a prescription from your doctor. The tablets were originally used as an anti-depressant, mostly for post war syndrome (I can't remember the correct term for it) but they discovered that so many of the men that were taking it were just quitting smoking and so this has been looked into for quite a few years and they say it works. The reports say it has a 93% success rate!!!! Lets wait and see, eh!

For the first 3 days you take one tablet per day, then you go onto 2 tablets a day, I was given a box of 60 on prescription, so if you do pay for them then that's not bad for a months supply. You continue smoking for the first two weeks, and then just stop. Like I said I am on my 5th day and still smoking as normal, but I shall re-write an opinion when I have finished and let you all know how it worked for me (and my husband).

There are a number of possible side effects, but so far all I have noticed occasionally is a slight metallic taste in my mouth.

I must admit I am very, very sceptical that they will work for me. They don't contain any nicotine in them, so they don't work by replacing nicotine for a while. They just make you not want to smoke anymore!!! We'll see!
