Advantages: Melts away tension headaches in a single swipe!

Disadvantages: Doesn't last as long as paracetomol

As I suffer quite frequently from tension headaches when I am at work, a colleague of mine suggested I use 4head, which is an alternative to taking tablets when you have a headache. I was dubious about this because I didn't understand how it worked, and I didn't think any alternative to tablets would work (particularly something that goes directly on the skin). However, I don't like the idea of taking so many tablets, so I thought I'd give this a go.

Is it easy to find 4head?

4head is available from the all the major supermarkets, as well as Boots, Superdrug and Lloyds Pharmacy. It's usually in the headaches/pain relief section and can usually be found near the paracetomol! It comes in a bright pink box, so should be quite easy to spot on the shelf. I found it quite quickly without knowing what it looked like. I just looked below the Neurofen and there it was!

Is it easy to use?

4head is a natural headache treatment that has been designed to apply directly to the forehead. It comes in a stumpy little tube (a bit like a lipstick) that you twist up to use. I think it's a really good size as I can just stick it in my pocket/handbag and have it there if I need it. It's much easier than lugging around a pack of paracetamol and a bottle of water on the off chance you might get a headache! If I get a headache, I just whip this out of my bag and swipe it once or twice over my forehead, temples, and sometimes on my neck. I do this because 4head relaxes the tension in your body, and sometimes my neck gets tense (particularly if I'm at a computer screen all day)! It's really simple to use and I can easily put this on my neck without seeing what I'm doing, so you could really use it with your eyes shut! The only thing to be aware of is to not get the product too close to your eyes as it will make them sting and start watering! This has happened to me a couple of times when I get a bit too 'enthusiastic' and the vapours get in my eye! On the plus side though, if you ever need to pretend you've been crying (maybe you have an acting job, or you need to get out of a tricky situation), simply put this close to your eye! For anyone else, however, just be careful when you use it!

Is it any good?

The stick itself is solid and clear, and slightly greasy to touch, though it doesn't leave any marks on my head, so people can't tell if I'm wearing it (unlike Tiger Balm). I have to say I think this is a real gem of a product. I really was so sceptical when I first heard about 4head (and the name '4head annoyed me too as I think things should be spelled properly)! It's great though. Every time I get one of those tension headaches in my forehead, I swipe this across the affected area and then it doesn't take long at all for the relief to start to work. I like the fact that is smells of menthol, and when I apply it, as well as the tension in my head vanishing, the area also feels cool which makes me feel more relaxed. That is also sorts out any tension in my neck also means I am really impressed with this.

The only downside to using 4head instead of paracetamol/more hardcore tablets is that the pain relief doesn't last as long as if you take the tablets. However, this doesn't really bother me as there are no limitations about how often I can use it, so I can just keep swiping it over the area as much as I like. This means it is also a good solution to a head ache that creeps up on you if you decide to use this between doses of paracetamol. There is also quite a small amount of 4head in a tube, but it does last for quite a while. The prices is £5.99 per tube, which is quite expensive, but it's so good that I really don't mind paying that much as it means I am actually able to function.

Overall..?

In summary, this 100% natural product is a real gem, and a great alternative to taking tablets all the time. It is easy to use, and very effective at relieving tension headaches in the forehead.

Summary: A must have for tense people! (But get a massage too..)

I have been trying to get my brother to buy this for the last week, as he has been complaining about headaches but doesn't want to take pills. Now I have some better evidence to back up my claims for it - Thanks

Omygod, how annoying were those ads - I have seen them both on the net and in the States. It's kind of funny though.

I have to admit to being sceptical about this, but this is an excellent and thorough review.
