The Scenario
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Once upon a Tuesday evening, Emma had a nasty headache emerging. A glass of wine was tried to numb the pain but perhaps not surprisingly it made matters worse! Because of the wine consumed Emma did not want to take some painkillers as she was informed that this was not wise. So she rummaged in the draw in her bedside table which she keeps all her various pills and potions in and discovered a useful little item which she had brought a fair few months ago....

What is it?
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

The product is called 4head and is a small 3.6g stick of natural remedy painrelief. It contains levomenthol, a natural ingredient which helps relax the local blood vessels and relieve pain. The ingredient also causes a cold and tingling sensation and has an analgesic effect. Levonmenthol also seems to help muscles in the head and neck relax and thus help to relieve tension headaches. The product costs around £5.99 and is available in tescos, boots and other pharmacies and supermarkets.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
What it looks like
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

When the product is first purchased it is contained in a bright pink (perhaps too pink when you have a headache?) cardboard box. The tube itself looks like a very small stick deodorant. It is a silvery grey colour with the brightpink label showing the name of the product '4head'. The clear plastic lid is removed by pulling at it gently and underneath is another small plastic cap. Once all caps are removed a white slippery looking stick is seen, like a lipstick this can be pushed up for use by twisting the bottom of the tube clockwise whilst holding the top still.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
What does it smell like?
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Once the two caps have been removed you are greeted with a rather strong menthol smell and although it isn't exactly the best smell in the world it isn't nasty either. The smell remains once applied and if you get it too near to your eyes they will water like mad!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
How to apply
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Application is simple and quick, you remove the caps, and apply gently across the forehead. It feels like you should be applying a lot but really - DON'T!! Glide the stick once across your forehead without getting it too close to your eyes and put the stick away! If later on you need to re-apply then you can. Once applied you can carry on with what you were doing although I normally try and sleep the headache off. Be VERY VERY VERY careful not to rub your eyes as if you do you will more than likely get some of the stuff in your eyes and will be temporarily blind and in more pain than you were before!! Once applied the remedy does not leave a mark at all on your forehead so no worries about looking daft!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Dosage
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Due to the fact that it is a natural remedy the '4head' stick can be used as often as required, however the instructions to say to avoid excessive use.

Sensation
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

The immediate sensation is a cooling and tingling one which is actually quiet nice. This lasts for around 10 minutes and then the pain will begin to feel numbed.

Evaluation.

Firstly you will have noticed that the product is rather expensive but in terms of value for money it is actually pretty good as one stick lasts for absolutely ages and it will provide you relief from headaches for a good long time. Although I have found that in many instances this does not provide total relief of headaches it does provide significant relief. I often use it in combination with either sleep or even painkillers to ease the pain. The main problem with the product is the immense pain you will have if you put it too near to your eyes or rub them by accident but I suppose this is to be expected of any product containing menthol! The stick is a really useful size as it can easily be carried around in a pocket or handbag as it is about 2 ½ inches in height and has the diameter of a brussel sprout (sorry! - it was the only example I could think of!!) All in all the product is a handy one to have and does provide enough relief to make it worth paying the rather expensive price. If you suffer from headaches often then I would definitely recommend this.

Summary: great relief as long as you dont get it in your eyes
