Alka Seltzer tablets come in pack of 10, or 20 and cost around £3.55 for the larger pack. They are designed as a cure for headache, hangover, stomach upsets and similar things. My first experience of these, some years ago, put off for life. Let me explain. I had a really bad hangover caused by excess of vodka and our local chemist's shop recommended these. They come in a nice fresh looking blue and white pack and each tablet is wrapped in foil to keep it dry and fresh. I followed the instructions carefully and put two tablets in some water and started to drink the liquid while it was fizzing. I barely swallowed the second mouthful when I vomited so ... Alka Seltzer was invented in Germany in 1931. It contains three active ingredients, aspirin, sodium bicarbonate and citric acid. Aspirin is not recommended for all so the medicine should be taken with caution or from advice from a trained specialist. Also consider this medicine is for multi-symptoms and unless you have all of the symptoms there is no point taking it. Headaches heart burn and for stomach related issues like gas, indigestion and cramps. Also it is good for pains associated with periods, rheumatic and muscular and even toothaches. Alka Seltzer is over the counter drug by this I mean anyone can buy it without prescription. From ... Read the complete review

Sound confusing? Well it would sound even more confusing if you have just woken up in the morning after an almighty binge on Bacardi Coke’s (my favourite) the night before. My mum of all people always suggested that if I had been drinking I should always have a glass of milk before sleeping. “Milk – You Must be Joking” was my reply. I would probably through-up with all that booze in my system. So the next alternative is one or two glasses of water. Although this does help it still doesn’t stop your head from feeling like a football that’s being kicked around and your stomach and legs feeling like jelly. I ... Read the complete review

Never again! Like most people I have been guilty of saying these two words on occasions after going over the top with the fruit of the vine the night before. You know the feeling – you wake up with the sound of someone drilling in your head and your stomach feels as though there’s something running round inside it. I have tried most of the so-called hangover cures over the years with varying degrees of success, but now I have actually found one that works! Yes, you did read that correctly – it works! It is called Alka Seltzer XS and it comes in the form of two large tablets, which you dissolve in a glass of water ... Read the complete review

Alka Seltzer is the make or break of hangovers. Sometimes you wake up with that familiar nausea, headache, dry mouth and generally feeling like death sensation take alka seltzer and feel a whole lot better. Other times you take alka seltzer and it seems to churn your stomach into a frenzy of activity and erupt back in nasty vomiting sessions. For that reason I often don't take alka seltzer for hangovers! It's a dissolvable pain killer and stomach settler and although many don't like the taste I actually really like it, but then I like andrews liver salts too so each to their own! It's bitter and fizzy, you can taste the aspirin in it. Which brings me to ... Read the complete review
