Advantages: ok for hangovers, tastes nice if you like that kind of thing, inexpensive

Disadvantages: can make you sick, inconvenient, not great for pain relief

Alka Seltzer is the make or break of hangovers. Sometimes you wake up with that familiar nausea, headache, dry mouth and generally feeling like death sensation take alka seltzer and feel a whole lot better. Other times you take alka seltzer and it seems to churn your stomach into a frenzy of activity and erupt back in nasty vomiting sessions. For that reason I often don't take alka seltzer for hangovers!

It's a dissolvable pain killer and stomach settler and although many don't like the taste I actually really like it, but then I like andrews liver salts too so each to their own! It's bitter and fizzy, you can taste the aspirin in it. Which brings me to my next point, if you are not supposed to take aspirin do not take alka seltzer!

If you over-indulge, think xmas day and all that food and drink, it's a good remedy to ease the bloating and ward off the headache. Just be careful if you are feeling like you might be sick, this can prompt you to be sick so can make matters worse.

It's not very convenient if you're on the go, as you need a glass of water to plink, plink, fizz with and time for the tablets to dissolve but if you have time it's as effective as taking aspirin with an indigestion remedy.

At about £3.50 for 20 tablets it's not very expensive but as pain relief it's not that effective. It really is best for over indulgence.

They now do a stronger version with added paracetomal and caffeine too which I think would be better for other pain related problems.

Not bad though as far as hangover cures go.
