Advantages: It works, It's not expensive, It's easy to use
Disadvantages: None
Never again! Like most people I have been guilty of saying these two words on occasions after going over the top with the fruit of the vine the night before. You know the feeling – you wake up with the sound of someone drilling in your head and your stomach feels as though there’s something running round inside it. I have tried most of the so-called hangover cures over the years with varying degrees of success, but now I have actually found one that works! Yes, you did read that correctly – it works! It is called Alka Seltzer XS and it comes in the form of two large tablets, which you dissolve in a glass of water and then drink, and it doesn't taste too bad either. They contain something to settle your stomach and something for the headache (ooh that headache!) The headache is actually a result of dehydration so the liquid in which you dissolve your tablets is help in itself. The tablets are purchased in a box of 10, wrapped two at a time in foil, so that they can be kept and transported easily. I always take some on holiday with me just in case! I think the last box I bought cost me about £3. I find that a small to medium sized hangover will be cleared completely within an hour or so of taking these tablets. If you’ve really gone over the top, then this will help you to feel better than you do but will not completely relieve the symptoms! We’re not talking miracles here! To help things along a walk in the fresh air helps to blow away the cobwebs and fresh fruit juice helps with the dehydration and also replaces vitamin C. The restorative properties of Alka Seltzer XS are also improved if you remember to drink a pint of water before you go to bed, as you don't dehydrate quite so much. I can do this if I’ve had a bit too much to drink, but I’m afraid if I’ve had far too much I can’t be bothered and then I regret it big time
the following morning! Cheers!

- 09/08/01 Gosh, what a lot of ops since I last looked at your list! Must use my COF a bit better in future. Anyway, this looks a useful product - shame it contains asprin and I'm allergic to it. Tom |

- 08/08/01 Great op. Unfortunately, if I have a queasy stomach drinking Alka Seltzer usually makes me do what it is supposed to stop me from doing. :( - Christiane |
