Advantages: Soothing to the skin, promotes healing.
Disadvantages: None
Aloe Pura are company which have created a fantastic range of organic skin products all containing Aloe Vera.
Aloe Vera has fantastic healing properties for the skin. It comes from the aloe barbadensis plant. Scientists are not completely sure how it works but they do know that the gel contains gummy substances that form soothing natural emollients. It is rich in a chemical called bradykininase ( a painkiller) and it is also rich in anti-inflamatory compounds. It soothes itching, dilates blood vessels and increases blood flow, therefore promoting quicker healing.
Aloe vera is great for burns, cuts and grazes, psoriasis, acne and shingles. It can even be used as a laxative! Its also great for dry damaged skin, which is where this product comes in....
The original Aloe Vera Gel from Aloe Pura is widely available in stores, but I usually buy mine online, and many online stores stock it for arount £3 for 100mls. It contains 100% pure aloe vera gel and is specially designed for dry damaged skin.
This gel can be used as an everyday treatment for minor skin problems and is especially useful during the summer months when skin is prone to drying. Its also great used on stretch marks.
It comes in a lovely squeezy bottle with a flip cap and can be applied in the same manner as a moisturiser.
It contains : 99.99% aloe vera inner gel, accrylates, panthetanol, disodium EDTA, sodium hydroxide, phenoxyethanol, methylparaben and propylparaben... The plants used are organically grown.
The range is now huge and another great product by this company worth a mention is their Aftersun gel, especially handy at this time of year.
It is soothing and hydrating to the skin and also contains with hazel, avocado, bilberry, and organic herbal extracts. i can personally vouch for this aftersun as yesterday I fell asleep in the garden and by yesterday evening I had turned a bright shade of pink, I popped this in the fridge for an hour and then applied to the burnt bits... instant and lasting relief!!
These products are great as they really do contain 100% of the magic of aloe vera at a fraction of the price you would expect to pay..... and they have not been tested on animals!
Summary: A fantastic product and range, highly recommended.

- 13/05/08 On holiday in the Dominican Republic a friend of mine got really bad sunburn. One of the locals cut her a piece from an Aloe Vera plant and split it in half, rubbing the sap stuff on the burnt area. You can't get any more natural than that! She said it really soothed the pain too. |
