Advantages: Lasts for ages, helps to assist in healing of wounds etc
Disadvantages: You can buy one that hasnt got much pure aloe in it
I was going through a stage trying to find something to help get rid of the small spots that were starting to pop up around my chin area.
A beautitian recommended pure aloe vera gel.
So I bought myself some Holland and Barrett Aloe Gel and found it to be wonderful.
This product can be used for many things such as sunburn, aids in the healing of wounds, cleanses and helps to moisturise.
I found if I put a blob on a spot or area it wouldnt exactly soak in like moisturisers do but within a few hours I could definatly notice a difference in that patch of skin or the spot has reduced in size dramatically.
I recently went on holidays to Jamaica too and got quite abit of sun, at the end of each day I would put it on and let my skin soak it up, by the end of the holiday my skin was smooth and not affected by the drying affects of the sun.
You can get this from all Health Food Shops and for a 200ml tube you can expect to pay around £4 but it does the trick and lasts for ages and ages.It is 99.9% and is a clear jelly like formula, steer clear of the ever eye catching Banana Boat Aloe Vera Gels that come in bright yellow and green colours alot of these products do not contain much pure aloe at all you are just paying for the colour and for it to be so eye catching.
Just watch though if you put too much on say your face, and it dries it will feel like you have a face mask on and it wont totally soak in. But a good idea would be to put a thin layer of it on after your cleansing and toning and under your daily moisturiser.

I'd been using the plant but it's quite a hassle as you need to keep it in the fridge. I didn't know where to get it in a tube or otherwise (my colleague bought the plant for me down her end) and you have pointed me in the right direction. Holland & Barret had it for half price when I bought it. I went back a week later to stock up on another tube but they'd put the price back up and locked it it a cabinet (!?). Don't worry, I noticed they don't do that at all their stores! |

- 07/10/01 Great op. I use aloe vera on a regular basis and when my grandkids come over and scrape their knees or elbows out comes the aloe vera. I always look at the back of the bottle to make sure that there is at least 99% aloe vera in the product. My grandkids call it the green stuff. When they get a scrape they come in and ask granny to put some green stuff on it. Aloe Vera is great stuff. |
