Advantages: organic, paraben free
Disadvantages: my skin is still dry
Aloe Pura Organic Aloe Vera Gel comes in 200ml tubes, will cost you around £4 a tube, depending where you shop, and it is meant to soften your skin, and help with dry and damaged skin.
To be honest I didn't find it all that effective personally. I didn't really like the smell all that much, and when I applied it to my skin the gel was okay but I just didn't feel that my skin was much improved in terms of helping with dryness in the areas I'd hoped it might.
I really DO like that it is paraben free, and I also like that it is intended for many uses, not only dry skin, but also can be applied to insect bites, burns (presumably only minor burns!), and can help with sun burn. I must admit that as yet I've been unable to test it's suitability for the latter, as I haven't been bitten (only amatter of time if I hang around the pond for a while though - mossie heaven), I'm not cooking (take-away night!), and there's no sun.
So for dry skin I'm not overly impressed. Maybe it will be useful for the other things it suggests, still, at least it's organic.
Full ingredients (from label) are:
Organic Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera Inner Gel*), Acrylates/C10 -30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Panthenol (Pro-Vitamin B5), Disodium EDTA, Sodium Hydroxide, Phenoxyethanol, Potassium Sorbate, Benzoic Acid.* Organically Grown.
Summary: For dry skin I'm not overly impressed. Still, at least it's organic.

- 21/03/09 I've got an aloe vera plant and found the pure gel squeezed from it was pretty rubbish too. |
