As far as I'm concerned, Aloe Vera is a completely necessary part of a household medicine cabinet. It is anti bacterial, anti itch, it helps damaged or burn skin to regenerate more quickly. In short, the skin is the biggest organ of the body and the deeply penetrative aloe aids skin recovery.


This product is 99.9% pure organic aloe vera. The other 0.1% is for stabilizing ingredients - to stop the gel going off -because pure aloe does and quite quickly! You could grow an aloe vera plant indoors and cut of the cactus-like leaves for an instant skin remedy however, I believe the healing properties of aloe grown in the hot sun (Mexico, the caribbean) is more potent.


Aloe is often called 'the burns plant' because its action on burns is its most celebrated property. Sunburn is ill advised - but put aloe on the affected area and you will certainly notice an improvement in the morning; you really should not go on holiday (in the sun) without it.


Aloe has a bitter taste - but it is not poisonous and you can drink the drinkable products which are good for the skin on the inside. I use this gel on ulcers in my mouth or for the odd bleeding gum to aid healing.


I think it would be good for dry skin - but only if a barrier layer of thick cream was applied to the skin after the gel (so it is kept in).
