Advantages: The capsules are fairly easy to swallow

Disadvantages: Slight plastic taste and more expensive

I suffer from migraines and instead of taking regular paracetamol tablets, I tend to stick with Ibuprofen tablets and those cooling head strips you can buy (very attractive) but do help slightly. This along with going to bed in a darkened room normally helps. So when I saw a recent advert on television for Anadin Liquifast 200mg, I thought why not give them a try. The pack I purchased had 16 tablets. The pack is brightly coloured and catches your eye straight away along with the price which isn't exactly cheap at 2.99. There are cheaper alternatives but they only take the edge off, so I thought of my migraines and decided it was worth it if they worked.

Liquifast promises effective relief from Back pain, Joint or Rheumatic pain, Muscle ache and Migraines.

You can also buy these tablets in 400mg capsules but obviously you only need to take one at a time instead of the usual two but with this comes more expense. Anadin Liquifast can be found in most pharmacies and supermarkets and I even saw them in Poundland the other day. Although these packs were only for 8 capsules, this does make them a bit better value for money.

The dosage, well the back of the pack suggests that Adults, the Elderly and for children over 12 years to take up to 2 tablets. With me suffering from a migraine I decided to take two and see if they had any effect. The usual advice follows as in take the tablets with water and if your condition continues go and see your doctor.

It also advises not to take these tablets if you have ever had a stomach ulcer, perforation, or bleeding. Suffer from severe liver, kidney or heart failure and if you are in the last 3 months of pregnancy. It also says if you are asthmatic or suffer from kidney or liver problems or from Hayfever you should seek advice from your pharmacist or doctor.

If you are allergic to ibuprofen or any other ingredient of the product, aspirin or other related painkiller also avoid these tablets. Full details on the above and more are given on the leaflet which it suggests you read before taking.

Each capsule is a kind of blue/green colour and has a plastic style coating obviously to contain the liquid more efficiently. They are oval in shape so they look fairly easy to swallow. The first capsule went down very easily but I did feel the second one slightly as it went down but I have to admit I don't like taking tablets and this may have been me tensing up. You can slightly taste the plastic coating on the capsules but I have had much worse tasting paracetamols.

Did it work, I knew it would be a bit before they kicked in so thought I would just lie on my bed to try and relax. I have to say that I did notice a difference in the severity of my migraine and it did have a bit more of an effect than other tablets I have tried. To be honest though I wouldn't say that it had an amazing effect and that it didn't make me recover more quickly.

As I said earlier Poundland do have these tablets in packs of 8 but these offers only tend to be while stocks last. So while they are on offer at a pound it is a good buy.

I would have to say that for mild aches and mild period pain these tablets may do the job perfectly. When I get a powerful migraine in the future I will use the tablets that I have. Although after I run out I will probably revert back to my usual 80p Ibuprofen tablets that help to take the edge off the pain just as well. Oh and of course my trusty cooling head strips!

Summary: Anadin Liquifast is a good product but maybe not ideal for migraine sufferers.
