I am writing this review from the comfort of my holiday villa at Center Parcs. The nice people at Center Parcs have been thoughtful enough to provide wifi access so I can continue writing reviews while I relax and enjoy the surrounding woodland. On our first evening here, my son was exploring the woodland outside the villa, stood on a wasps nest, and was soon jumping about as he tried to evict the small army of wasps that had gone up his trouser legs and down into his socks (although, really, how any beast that gets near his feet can possibly want to stay there, is beyond me!!). He came out of the whole episode with several stings to his feet and ... Read the complete review

This summer the midges have been particularly bad, I've had bites a plenty on my arms and legs and before long I was at my wits end scratching all day and night without hope of reprieve. This was just before my mum bought me a small white tube of something called "Anthisan." I have never seen Anthisan before but I have heard from friends that it actually does what it says on the tube. That was from hearsay though; would it work on me? Briefly Anthisan is an antihistamine cream which works at the heart of the bite, reverses the body's reaction to the bite's "itch" and swelling which is visible on skin. Aventis produce the cream ... They came on silent wings, unannounced and uninvited, through a forgotten, half-open window. Single-minded in their purpose and utterly ruthless, never for one moment swaying from their mission. How many of them came I will never know. Nor will I ever know why they chose me as their victim. But as I lay there, helpless against their attack, they sought to drain my very life-blood. Then, as I slept on unaware, they left, just as silently and swiftly as they had arrived. But the next morning I found the evidence of their nocturnal visit. Great red, itchy lumps on my midriff and legs. My God…I’d been bitten! And how they itched! I scratched like someone ... Read the complete review

Being a frequent traveller to West Africa, as some of you are aware, leaves my skin open to abuse by the most repulsive of insects "the mosquito". Not only have I been bitten by these blood sucking flying monsters but have also been unfortunate to have acquired Malaria on two occasions. I never used to use any creams or other medications except my anti-malarial tablets, until quite recently. One of my friends told me about "Anthisan" cream just prior to my last visit to Ghana. They come in tubes of 20 grams and I purchased it at £3.80 from Boots. However I later found out that it is available at £3.39 from Pharmacy2u.co.uk. ... Read the complete review

If there's anything flying or crawling in the vicinity I can almost guarantee that my poor 18 year old daughter will get stung or bitten if she hasn't used insect repellent - thank goodness for Anthisan! It's one of the several essential products I keep in my medicine chest (along with Piriton & Vick etc) as it gets used all times of year but especially in the summer. The last time I bought a tube of Anthisan it cost just over £3 for 20ml & is, in my opinion, worth every penny. The box is as shown in the picture & inside there's an informative leaflet which accompanies the white metal, screw cap tube. There are full directions on how & when to ... Read the complete review
