Advantages: Easy to apply, inexpensive, cams down bites and stings

Disadvantages: Not suitable for rashes that move to different places on the body

I bought a tube of Anthisan a while ago when I was attempting to get rid of the anti-histamine tablets I use and have used for years. The cream itself is an anti-histamine cream so I thought I could perhaps use this instead so I wasn't taking a tablet every day.

I suffer from long-term urticaria which is intensely ithy and burns like crazy, it's not called nettle rash for nothing! I applied the cream to a patch and it calmed it down, then to another patch and it also calmed that down but then the patches just kept appearing in different places so I realised it wasn't going to be suitable for me as I'd need to shower in the stuff to keep the rash at bay. How can you use cream if the patches keep choosing another area to attack and moving round?! But I still had lots left.

I kept the cream in the bathroom cabinet though in case it might be of use in the future. It was indeed useful at a later date. About a year ago I put on my marigolds to wash the dishes and felt a stabbing on my finger. At first I thought it was a piece of broken plate that had got broken earlier in the day but then started to panic it might be a wasp or a bee so hastily pulled the glove off.

What it actually was freaked me out more than a bee! I had a spider hanging onto my finger by it's teeth!! I'm actually terrified of spiders so I shook this one onto the floor and stamped on it. My partner was telling me not to kill it as I might need to take it to the hospital if I had a bad reaction but all that could be saved during my stomping frenzy was a leg!!

The bite itself burned and was really sore even though it was only small so I found my trusty tube of Anthisan and applied some. That took the edge off the burning and I hoped for the best.

A couple more applications and the bite was painless, just a small lump for about a week so the cream seemed to do the trick. It's worth having a tube of this in just in case you get bitten or stung by something as it does help.

Summary: Keep a tube handy especially in the summer
