Advantages: easy to apply, works quickly, smells ok

Disadvantages: not waterproof & can't be used on large areas

If there's anything flying or crawling in the vicinity I can almost guarantee that my poor 18 year old daughter will get stung or bitten if she hasn't used insect repellent - thank goodness for Anthisan! It's one of the several essential products I keep in my medicine chest (along with Piriton & Vick etc) as it gets used all times of year but especially in the summer.

The last time I bought a tube of Anthisan it cost just over £3 for 20ml & is, in my opinion, worth every penny. The box is as shown in the picture & inside there's an informative leaflet which accompanies the white metal, screw cap tube. There are full directions on how & when to use & a warning that the cream is intended for external use only.

The ingredients are also listed but I didn't recognise these long pharmaceutical terms but together they apparently work as an antihistamine, soothe the skin & act as an inflammatory agent which act on bites, stings & nettle rash.

The top of the tube has 1 of those open, turn-upside-down tops which pierces the opening & allows the cream to be dispensed exactly as required. Similar products often have unpleasant/nasty smells but Anthisan is quite pleasant - a little bit like Savlon cream?

The white cream is easy to work into the affected area & doesn't settle on the surface & it acts quickly to reduce any discomfort as it seems to slightly numb the skin & over time reduces any redness.

Although my daughter is the main user I've had reason to try this on several occasions & it's worked a treat on my prickly heat & itchy feet & ankles (although please note it doesn't claim to be used for these purposes).

The only drawbacks to using Anthisan are that you have to re-apply after swimming or washing as the cream isn't waterproof & also that it's not intended to be used on large areas of skin.

summary
~
- worth every penny in my opinion.
- easy to apply.
- has a rather pleasant smell (unlike similar products on the market).
- reduces discomfort almost immediately after applying.
- reduces redness over time.
- recommended.

Summary: the best bite & sting cream I've tried
