Advantages: It works. Simple.

Disadvantages: None

So I am the passenger in a car driving along on a long drive. I am busy admiring the scenery, and as you do I get an itch in my left thumb. I don't really notice the itch is there, but I do acknowledge in the back of my mind that it is there and I scratch it.

Although I have kind of forgotten I scratched the itch until a few moments later when I feel my thumb sore, itchy, tingly and numb all at the same time. And as I am subconsciously scratching away, I become conscious that I am doing it when I feel something under my fingers and look down at my hand to see the back end of a BIG wasp hanging out of my thumb.

I say back end, I must have scratched the poor beast in half. In panic and without thinking, I flicked away what was left of the animal and then had to pick out the sting and wipe away whatever ooze the animal had left. Yuk.

At the first opportunity I got, I asked the driver to stop at a chemist and I got a tube of this anthisan and some tablets, as I was worried about this shock that you hear that people go into when they get stung - that is for another review.

For now my hand was swollen, painful and very, very itchy. It was difficult to abstain from scratching, an the more I scratched the worse it got.

This cream, although it didn't work wonders, calmed things down. I can't remember the directions for use, but essentially it was to rub a little into the affected area.

It did have the effect of reducing the pain, but to be honest the real annoyance was the itch and the cream did have the desired effect of reducing that. The swelling did subside though, although I don't know if this was natural or the effect of the cream.

Now I did panic a little because of this sting, perhaps unnecessarily, but I was in the middle of nowhere and it took us a while to find a chemist. I do recommend everyone carry a tube of this in their travel bag, or whatever you take out with you in the summer.

Whether or not it has any placebo effect or whether it does genuinely work I don't know, but it did the trick for me.

Summary: A quick fix to an itch

I used Anthisan cream when I was badly bitten by mosquitos, it helped reduce the soreness, but the itchy sensation? Not brilliant, I'm afraid to say.......enjoyed your review, and hope the sting subsided ok!:>)

Well I use a big hammer to tenderise meat, so I will pass on that one :))
