Advantages: Very effective, Small amount needed, Economical

Disadvantages: Not for everyone

My mother (who was a pharmacist) & I have been using Anthisan now for more years than I care to remember, but certainly since back in the days when it was made by May & Baker in Dagenham. We have always found it extremely effective for relieving mosquito bites, nettle stings and the like.

All the same, like most 'anti-histamines', it isn't always as useful for other people. It appears to be much less effective on my wife, for example, so please allow for that in your own circumstances.

It has been suggested for use in the later stages of pregnancy to stop the severe itching that can sometimes occur. This might be alright for some people, but why not mention it first to your Doctor? The current patient leaflet has the following to say:

"4.6. Pregnancy and Lactation
There is no evidence of the safety of mepyramine maleate in human pregnancy, but it has been widely used for many years without apparent ill consequence. Absorption of a significant amount after topical application is unlikely in the prescribed method of use, nevertheless, Anthisan Bite and Sting Cream should not be used during pregnancy or lactation, unless considered essential".

You really need to include some more info about the product, as I felt I didn't really learn much about it, sorry.
