Advantages: Amazingly cheap, small so easy to swallow, work quickly
Disadvantages: Maybe I rely on them a bit much seeing as they're so cheap so I don't have to worry
This review is on Asda Ibuprofen Tablets and not the Capsules as are indicated in the picture above.
I often get bad headaches, probably due to my excessive use of the computer and watching TV! I know it's bad but I do take painkillers quite regularly to get rid of these annoying aches and pains and the branded ones are just too expensive when I get through so many. I never used to be able to swallow pills but I've gradually got used to the smaller ones. I still can't take capsules or bigger pills though which is why these tablets are great for me - they are very small, smooth and perfectly easy to swallow with a quick sip of water. I can't say I've noticed any taste from them which is also a bonus as horrible tasting pills just put you off completely.
The tablets come in a small rectangular red box which clearly indicates on the front what is inside and you can easily distinguish between the different types of Ibuprofen that Asda make. The pack contains 16 of the small white tablets. They can be used for the relief of headache, dental pain, migraine, neuralgia, period pains, backache, rheumatic or muscular pain, feverishness and for the symptoms of colds and flu - so basically for anything really! Each tablet contains 200mg Ibuprofen and also contains sucrose.
With a glass of water, adults, the elderly and children over 12 years old should take 1 or 2 tables up to 3 or 4 times a day, no more often than every 4 hours, and no more than 6 in 24 hours. They are not suitable for children under the age of 12, women in the last 3 months of pregnancy or if you are taking any other painkillers.
I find that these begin to work almost straight away and after 10 or 15 minutes my headache has completely gone. If I take them when I have period pain, the pain disappears within 5 minutes and doesn't return for the rest of the day usually.
I have a whole stack of these in my medicine cupboard and always keep a couple in my bag for when I'm out and about and they come in really handy. They're the smallest painkillers that I've found so if you find it difficult to swallow them, I'd recommend giving these a try. Plus they're amazingly cheap at only 32p for the box of 16! I really don't think you can find better than that!
Summary: A great and cheap painkiller

- 08/04/09 I tend to buy my ibuprofen in the US when I visit family, you can buy huge quantities really cheaply. Does that make me a drug smuggler? |

- 07/04/09 I think these are far better than Nurofen etc - with them, you just get a headache thinking about the price! |
