I'm away from home at the moment. Yes, you're thinking, you're firmly esconced in West Africa which is a world away from Manchester, but that's not what I mean. I do have a home here, but it's a 5 hour drive from where I currently am. And though my home away from home has a fully stocked first aid kit, my home away from my home away from home does not. Fashionable thing that I am, I've done a Cheryl Cole and got Malaria, despite every effort not to. 'Luckily' it happened in the capital, home to some lovely private hospitals, but it's also left me stranded here for a few more days. I was discharged with some killer meds but also advised to take a pain killer, and it was .. Read the complete review

Aspirin celebrated its 100 years in existence this year and is the most widely used medicine in the world today. A staggering 35,000 tonnes of Aspirin is consumed every year and this is enough to make over 3100 Billion Aspirin tablets. I tend to buy Asprin, as a form of pain relief, and I use them as relief for knee joint aches and pains as they act as an anti-inflammatory and help reduce swelling in these areas. They are widely available in most off the counter shelves in local supermarkets, and own brands are cheap to purchase no more than 30p for a packet although these days they are limited to the amount you may purchase. Although good at being effective for pain relief such as toothache, menstrual pain, headaches, throbing pains, flu and cold symptons, they can affect the stomach lining but you can get them from your G P with a coating on so these work well if you are ... When I had a very bad sore throat which wouldn't go away, I tried the usual throat lozenges, medicine etc. Nothing helped the symptom was still there, because I was going on my holidays I wanted to solve this problem quickly . I went to my local shop called Consumer's Choice where I was telling one of the staff about my throat. She mentioned Aspro Clear being very good if you gargle with it. I purchased a pack of 18 for around £2.20 ish and took two straight away. I was a bit worried about the gargling bit as I hate doing that. You dissolve one to two tablets in half a glass of cold water , then wait for it to fizz, once the ... Read the complete review

Aspirin is a widely used analgesic, anti - inflammatory and anti - pyretic. Made from a precursor (salicylic acid) which is found in Willow tree bark, its is a relatively cheap choice of pain relieif. As with all medicaments, aspirin is not without its side effects. Aspirin tends to be harsh on the stomach lining, this can, in some cases, cause gastric problems. Aspirin thereforemust be taken with food and water, this protects the oesophagous and the rest of the Gastro - Intestinal tract. Aspirin can also be used as a blood thinner, with anti- platelet properties, by inhibiting a cyclooxygenase. Some patients may be advised to take aspirin (usually 75mg) if they ...
