Advantages: Has started to soften my verruca

Disadvantages: No real difference considering its halfway through the treatment course, difficult to pick layer off

I have some stubborn corns and one verruca on the bottom of my feet. I used Scholl verruca gel with very little success but was recommended this by a pharmacist as it is supposed to be more effective. My tube is the kind that you apply on a daily basis for up to twelve weeks, rather than the one-application type that is supposed to freeze the verruca/wart/corn so that it falls off.

***Using The Gel***
The gel itself is clear so you have to be careful when applying it to the affected area(s) as it is quite strong and can irritate 'normal' skin. After you have applied the gel, leave it to dry and it will form a white layer over the top of the verruca/corn/wart/callus. The idea is that you carefully pick off this layer the next day and reapply more gel and then use the provided emery board to gently file the affected area(s) once a week. Repeated applications of the gel are intended to soften the problem area(s) so that they are easier to file down and remove. It can take up to twelve weeks for this to happen so it's not one for the impatient!

***My Experiences***
This has worked quite well on my calluses as I have been able to file them right down but I'm not having the same luck with the verruca. I have been using the gel for six weeks now and am not really noticing that the verruca has been eroded much at all. It has softened in comparison to how it was before so I'm hopeful that it will come away around the twelve-week mark.

I find it difficult to pick off the white layer that forms over the top of the verruca. For me, it pulls away at the very edges but not from the bulk of the verruca itself. Instead, I've been taking the advice of the information booklet and simply reapplying the next layer over the top but I'm not sure if this is contributing to the lack of success in getting rid of the verruca.

***The Price***
I bought my tube from the in-store pharmacy in my local branch of Sainsburys, and it cost something in the region of £4.80. I'll be updating this review once the 12 weeks has passed and will consider it to be worth the price if it does indeed eradicate my stubborn verruca but right now, I'm more inclined to say that it's not been worth the money.

Summary: Another product that can't seem to kill off my verruca!

The thing with verrucas is that they will eventually go away on their own, whether or not you treat them (though eventually could equal years) - being caused by a virus, they are tricky to shift with such products.
