Advantages: Relieves your symptoms if only for half an hour!

Disadvantages: Takes a while to work properly, and only lasts a short time.

I bought this stuff at Christmas when I got a nasty little cold and felt very sorry for myself...I normally just drink lemsips even though I know they don't work particularly well, but they always make me comforted and warm. But this time I was fed up of feeling like rubbish and so bought this medicine. It's available over the counter, and costs around £4 for approximately 8 doses of medicine (160ml).

Beechams all in one claims to rid you of the symptoms of a nasty cold and flu:

Headache
Blocked Nose
Sore Throat
Chesty Cough

This is a non drowsy medicine and so is good to use if your in work/college/school or driving.

It contains paracetamol and so shouldn't be used with any other paracetamol containing medicines. It also should not be given to children under 12 unless advised by your doctor!

Now on for my usage of the medicine!

You take 20ml of the medicine, and this is measured using a little cup which you get on top of the bottle, which is handy, though if you lose it it's simply 4 teaspoons.

The medicine tastes quite nice actually, not like some other medicines, it still has the menthol-ey taste to it, but it's got a sweet taste, which takes away the nastiness of it, which I just find makes me feel worse! So this isn't too unpleasent tasting...yes its not something you'd want to sit drinking, but it's pleasent enough to swallow! :)

As for it relieving the symptoms which it says it does, I don't really find it does. If you have a blocked nose it does stop this been so bad, but this doesn't last all that long. It does relieve a cough though, even though this isn't for long either.

One thing it does do which it says on the packet is get rid of your headache, which always comes with a blocked nose, which I think makes you feel a hundred times better, but your nasty sore throat will remain I'm afraid, I don't find anything gets rid of that!!!

All in all the symptoms are all relieved but only for a very very short period, normally around half an hour, until the headache is back, and your nose is blocked again, but I find if you take this before going to bed, it relieves the symptoms for long enough to get to sleep without your head stopping you, and your nose annoying you!

Or gives you a nice burst if energy as your symptoms go for a while, so it's good if you have an important interview or meeting, or even exam!

I don't honestly think there is very much at all which will fully get rid of your cold or flu, or even fully relieve you of your symptoms, but this does a good job at trying, and as I said it does get rid of the nastyness for around half an hour, which is a nice little heaven when your feeling nasty!

So if nothing else will work for you, then buy this :) I tend to have this, then half an hour or so later just after the medicine starts to work I take a lemsip, then off to bed. It does make you feel alot better, even if it is only for a little while! :)

Summary: If nothign else will work give this a go! :)
