Advantages: Fast
Disadvantages: not for if your allergic to aspirin
It?s that time of year when we are under attack from the flu bug. I don?t like being ill and hate to stay in bed, I?m a very bad patient and after trying hot baths, honey and lemon drinks and other herbal remedies. I decided to nuke the bug and take a Beechams Powders. It?s not often I will take medicine, either from the doctors or over the counter but the flu bug was lingering and I can?t afford to sit around being ill. Beechams Powders are made by SmithKline Beechams Pharmaceuticals Limited. They come in a dark blue packet with a little picture of a glass and spoon on the front. Beechams is written in white letters and Powders is written in orange, you get 10 wraps of Beechams powders in each box. They cost me 1.99 at the Co-op. When you open a wrap of the Beechams, you will see some white fine powder, mix this magic cure up with a little water, stir and drink. It has a funny powdery taste which is distinctly original to Beechams powders, unless you have had them it?s so hard to discribe. Each wrap has 0.1g of powder inside. Beechams powders contain Aspirin, they are great for shifting headaches, muscular pains, toothache, period pains and help to bring down your temperature when you have the flu. It?s good for sore throats and migraine too. Aspirin is an analgesic which means pain killer and also an antipyretic which reduces the temperature This is not suitable for children under 12 years old and you must not take it if you are allergic to aspirin or caffiene Do not take it if you have ever had a stomach ulcer or if you have blood clotting disorders (haemorphillia) This is a very strong medicine and will work within 5 to 10 minutes of taking it,. You have to ask your doctor if it?s safe to use if you are pregnant or breast feeding. If you have asthma, kidney or liver problems, or if you are taking blood thinning drugs you have to consult your doctor before taking this. I only take t
his medicine as a last resort because I know it works fast and when you need to be up and on your feet instead of laying in bed ill, then this powder will do the trick. If I know I have to resort to medicine then I like to take one that I have used before and know it works. I hope you are all in good health and don?t come down with the flu, I think it gets worse every winter. Stay healthy. Never leave medicines in reach of children.

- 13/01/03 It is unlikely to be 'flu' that you have, just a 'cold virus'.
Remebeer, these 'remedies' won't 'cure' you, just relieve the symptoms.
I find whisky, sweeties, hot drinks, aspirin, bed, whisky, sweeties & plenty more wishky help me .... |

- 13/01/03 Oooh hope youre ok Tray, theres a particularly nasty flu strain doing the rounds at the moment. I find a couple of paracetamol and a vit C tablet to be just as effective, but good op. |

- 13/01/03 God works in mysterious ways. He also works for Smithkline Beecham however, as the very existence of this product proves.
