Advantages: Nothing.

Disadvantages: Expensive - don't work.

I have a terrible cold and I am feeling very sorry for myself! I am lucky enough to have a chemist just down the road and went in to buy something to try and make myself feel better. (I did want some Nurofen cold and flu tablets - these are amazing, but alas! they had none in stock)

Feeling rather icky and desperate to feel better, I settled for some Beechams Flu tablets. They come in a red and blue pack. There are 16 in the pack (8 in each blister pack, two blister packs in a box) and they cost £4.99.

What the box says...
------------------------------

Beechams Capsules provide rapid and effective relief from the major cold symptoms. Relief from fever, headache, aching limbs and a blocked nose. Completely tasteless and easy to swallow with or without water.

Adults and children over 12 should take 2 capsules every 3 or 4 hours. You must not exceed 12 capsules in any 24 hour period.

Each capsule contains: Paracetamol, Caffeine and Phenylephrine Hydrochloride. (This is a decongestant)

What I say...
------------------------------

What a waste of £4.99. Yes the tablets are easy to swallow, but why does that matter when what you're swallowing doesn't do what it's supposed to!?

Maybe it was just me but these made NO difference to how I was feeling at all. I have taken 8 out of the 16 over the past two days and if anything I feel worse than I did before I took them!

Summary: Stick with Nurofen flu tablets - they actually work.

I'll steer clear of these next time I have a cold. Which will be any day now with the weather as it is.
