... having a pain-killing antiseptic cream! The 30g tube cost me 95p in Tesco, which is quite a bit cheaper than Savlon. The cream smells like a typical antiseptic, very medicated and clean, but it's not so overpowering you can smell it for hours after you've used it. It has directions for use on minor cut and grazes, and also minor scalds, burns and blisters - which is always handy to know. The cream is white, and reasonably thick, and it doesn't feel greasy on the skin. To use the cream you simply clean the affecte...more

I recently bought some new shoes, and after wearing them for the first time one foot was rubbing and cut into the back of my foot. I really wanted to heal it quickly as I needed to wear the shoes again, so I went on a hunt for a good antiseptic cream in Tesco. The ream comes in a blue box with the Germolene title on the front, along with a pink cross and the information 'antiseptic cream with local anaesthetic'. I went for this one, not only because the price was attractive, but also because I thought it would be helpful having a pain-killing antiseptic cream! The 30g tube cost me 95p in Tesco, which is quite a bit cheaper than Savlon. The cream ...  Read the complete review

In my house we believe in Sudcream for everything! However the other day I had a nasty fall in the street. For no apparent reason one moment I was up on my feet and the next I had fallen in a pile of gravel! Not only did I graze both of my hands and my knee, I split open my elbow which poured of blood (all over my fave cream cardie!) and bruised both my knee and my bum! I was in a right state and I had to find loo's to clean myself up however I could see that my wounds were still a bit dirty looking and really hurt me so I knew I needed something antiseptic before I got home to use before having a bath and making sure areas were really cleaned out for a ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Beecham's Germolene: One of the family (431 words)

Growing up Germolene was always in our household, part of the family I suppose you could say. So when I flew the nest and shacked up with future hubby it appeared in our house too (along with cushions and throws but that's another story). So what is it?~ Germolene is an antiseptic cream which can be used by all the family, though I never used it on my children when they were younger ( it was the good old tub of Sudocrem for them!) I do now as they are at the 'scabby knee' stage. What's in it?~ It's active ingredients are Phenol and Chlorhexidine Digluconate - if like me, you are flummoxed at what they are (unless you are a pharmacist ) they are ...  Read the complete review

Germolene is a antiseptic cream that I remember from growing up, there was always a tube in the bathroom cabinet for any times id fall over and graze my knee. Germolene comes in a long carboard box which has navy background expect for the right corner which is pink. The name is in White letters and it says on the box that it helps prevent infection, numbs pain and helps healing. The tube inside has changed from when I last used it. It used to be a metal tube and much longer than it is now. Now it is a 30g plastic tube that is 10cm not including the cap, which is a screwtop and when it is unscrewed there is a little piece of metal you need to pull ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Beecham's Germolene: No more sticky pink stuff! (287 words)

I remember Germolene from my childhood days. It came in a round tin with a push off lid. The smell was like 'hospitals' to me and the ointment itself was bright pink and sticky. I have just rediscovered this antiseptic cream as Germolene Antiseptic Wipes made by Bayer.. These are just as effective as the cream but a lot more convenient. I would certainly recommend these slipped into your suitcase before you go on holiday. They are great as part of an emergency first aid kit for cuts, scratches, grazes, bites and prickly heat. Soothe away heat rash and stop itching. These antiseptic wipes are medicated to cleanse, cool and help protect ...  Read the complete review
