Germolene also comes in a cream, which is pale pink/white and not sticky at all, an antiseptic pump spray, gel and wipes. **What does it look like?** It comes in a navy blue tube and box with a cross in a yellow box. The tube has a screw-top lid and inside, the ointment is thick and a distinctive pasty pink colour. **What kind of injuries can you use Germolene on?** As I mentioned before, it's great for small cuts and grazes as well as mi...more

I remember Germolene from my childhood days. It came in a round tin with a push off lid. The smell was like 'hospitals' to me and the ointment itself was bright pink and sticky. I have just rediscovered this antiseptic cream as Germolene Antiseptic Wipes made by Bayer.. These are just as effective as the cream but a lot more convenient. I would certainly recommend these slipped into your suitcase before you go on holiday. They are great as part of an emergency first aid kit for cuts, scratches, grazes, bites and prickly heat. Soothe away heat rash and stop itching. These antiseptic wipes are medicated to cleanse, cool and help protect ...

Germolene Cream, which has antiseptic and local anaesthetic properties, is a godsend in my house, we refer to it as Magic Cream. I grew up with it, but when I was small it didn’t come in tubes, it was in a circular tin, with a push on lid, which you could never get off easily, especially in an emergency. The colour was different too; it was very pink and had a pasty texture. I have always found the smell of Germolene very reassuring. The Cream is now in tubes, which is a lot easily to handle and is very easily absorbed into the skin, unlike Germolene of old. Germolene can be used on minor cuts and grazes, minor burns, scalds and blisters, ...

I'm a finger chewer. OK, OK, I know, the habit is absolutely disgusting and I'm the first to admit it, but these habits forged in childhood are hard to break... Anyway, this rambling is merely to give you some background for just how good Germolene ointment is. When I've really gone for the old fingers and they're covered in horrible little cuts, I find that there's nothing better than Germolene to soothe the pain and heal the sore bits. Seriously, I've found that if I apply some of the ointment before you go to bed and cover the cut up with a plaster, in a few minutes the soreness has gone and by the next morning the skin is beginning to heal over - that's ...
