Do you need both of these at once (Beecham's Germolene)

Advantages: Useful for grazes

Disadvantages: Offers un-needed painrelief/anitseptic depending on useage

Germoline is sort of a mixture between Savlon and Deep Heat. Quite a clever idea but for me, not one that comes off. For those unfamiliar with either Savlon or Deep Heat, by this I mean Germolene feels like a cross between a high quality antiseptic cream and a pain relief cream.

The reason this combination doesn't seem to come off is that I don't really have situations where I require both of these things. I either require antiseptic and will thus use Savlon or I need pain relief and so will use something like Deep Heat. I guess the occasions when this would be most useful would be for grazes, where regardless of whether you needed antiseptic, you would not want to apply Deep Heat.

This isn't a problem except for that it bumps up the price of the cream considerably. I do however still use it occasionally and find it very pleasant, especially the smell which just a fairly faint smell of Deep Heat.

Summary: Just make sure you really need both an antiseptic and pain relief in the same cream
