Advantages: Brilliant

Disadvantages: None at all

In my house we believe in Sudcream for everything! However the other day I had a nasty fall in the street. For no apparent reason one moment I was up on my feet and the next I had fallen in a pile of gravel! Not only did I graze both of my hands and my knee, I split open my elbow which poured of blood (all over my fave cream cardie!) and bruised both my knee and my bum! I was in a right state and I had to find loo's to clean myself up however I could see that my wounds were still a bit dirty looking and really hurt me so I knew I needed something antiseptic before I got home to use before having a bath and making sure areas were really cleaned out for a bit!

The Packaging....

Dark blue and pink, oblong, cardboard box. On the box all in white, pink and blue writing I'm told on two of the boxes sides that it is Germolene Antiseptic Cream 'With local anaesthetic' and that it helps to prevent infection, numbs pain and helps healing. The Bayer symbol (the manufacturer of Germolene products) is displayed and I'm told this is for all the family to use. On another side of the box I'm told a bit about the cream, ingredients are listed and there is bar-code on there. On the other side of the box I'm told what to use it for, directions for use are given, contact details for Bayer are given, storage details are listed and finally the size is stated (in my case 30g). On both ends of the boxes I'm clearly told what it is and on one the best before date is clearly stamped on. The tube itself is blue and white plastic and has a twist on/off white plastic cap to one end concealing a small hole and basically it contains alot of the information on it that is on the box. There is a white leaflet in the box as well with alot of the same information on it as well and your told a bit more about the ingredients used etc.

About The Product....

Non-greasy cream that rubs in easily.
Antiseptic action helps prevent infection.
Soothing local anaesthetic numbs the pain and helps relieve the itching and irritation of minor skin injuries.

Uses For The Cream....

Germolene Antiseptic Cream has an antiseptic action to help prevent infections, plus a soothing local anaesthetic effect to numb the pain. Germolene Antiseptic Cream's dual action is an effective treatment for minor cuts and grazes, minor burns, scalds and blisters, stings and insect bites, spots and chapped or rough skin.

Directions For Use....

Thoroughly clean the affected area of skin, apply the cream and rub in gently. In the case of cuts or particularly tender areas apply on a piece of white lint or gauze.

Using It....

Well as you can imagine I was in a bit of a state so I waiting for the bleeding to stop, cleaned the areas as well as I possible could and used the cream liberally. I really hurt all over and felt so sorry for myself! lol.

The off white cream really blends in easily so you only need a little. I found it to be none greasy although it was easily blendable and on some areas it stung a little (really quite deep grazes and cuts) and other it didn't. If skin is really open you should expect a slight tingle (not that it hurts or anything) on the area.

It really does smell highly medicated and doesn't lose that fragrance however it is brilliant and although I have used it in the past on a quite a few occasions I've never appreciated it as much as when I last bought it (probably cos I was in a real mess and needed help!). It cools and calms down the area and does numb pain alot for a good hour at a time and when the effects wear off cos it's only a cream you can of course re-apply it without overdosing on it or anything! As I have said easy to apply, with no rubbing required and it does make the skin appear instantly cleaner and fresher.

Not only did I use it on the cuts and bruises I got the other day I burnt my hand on the cooker the day after my accident and once again the antiseptic really did numb the pain and I had a slightly septic looking old blister on my foot and I used a bit of this on it and it loosened the skin and the next day the yellowy tinge it had vanished (I'd had that ages too!).

Verdict....

Things have healed really quickly with this and been more comfortable on the whole with this on my skin. Scarring is minimal and I'm not septic (although I feared I may go it!) or as sore as i would have been without using this. This for me at 99p a tube it's simply so worth it. Ok the smell is a little on the medicated side and quite rich but for the immediate pain relief that this gives I can tolerate that...no problem!

A really good buy! Handy to put in your handbag for emergencies and don't forget this is recommended for the use on dry and chapped skin as well...so multi-functional this really is! One for all the family and I have a new found respect for this stuff!

Mine came from Boots priced at 99p but it is available in all types of places!

Summary: A real must buy!
