Pink... smells... but oh my goodness it works! (Beecham's Germolene)

Germolene is an antiseptic ointment cream to put on burns, cuts, grazes, blisters and sunburn/sore skin. It cost about £1.60 and it a well known branded product that can be bought from Boots/supermarkets etc. There are two versions, the normal version and the anaesthetic version. The anaesthetic one is definatley the best; it has four types of cream in it:

-phenol for disinfectant and anaesthetic
-methyl salicylate for inflammation and pain
-zinc oxide to stop bleeding
-ointment base to soothe the skin

I have recently used it on a burn from my trusty GHDs which was a blister but then three days later burst and started hurting, a LOT. It is fantastic. The instructions advised to put a layer over the entire burn, bbefore it was throbbing, now with the cream on it feels completely normal. I have put a non fluffy dressing over the top as advised and i think it will be fine - its definatley in a better place than it was this morning!! The only minus points are that the smell is very strong- sitting here now i can smell it so bear this in mind, its not suitable to have on when you see people/go out! Secondly, the cream is pink. Not a major thing but on seeing it my boyfriend flat out refused to ever use it for footie injuries; from a man this is a ridiculous reaction however i can imagine that little boys will also refuse to use it on this point too!

Summary: buy for burns, its great
