A great antiseptic cream at a great price! (Beecham's Germolene)

I recently bought some new shoes, and after wearing them for the first time one foot was rubbing and cut into the back of my foot. I really wanted to heal it quickly as I needed to wear the shoes again, so I went on a hunt for a good antiseptic cream in Tesco.

The ream comes in a blue box with the Germolene title on the front, along with a pink cross and the information 'antiseptic cream with local anaesthetic'. I went for this one, not only because the price was attractive, but also because I thought it would be helpful having a pain-killing antiseptic cream! The 30g tube cost me 95p in Tesco, which is quite a bit cheaper than Savlon.

The cream smells like a typical antiseptic, very medicated and clean, but it's not so overpowering you can smell it for hours after you've used it. It has directions for use on minor cut and grazes, and also minor scalds, burns and blisters - which is always handy to know. The cream is white, and reasonably thick, and it doesn't feel greasy on the skin.

To use the cream you simply clean the affected area with warm water (instructions say not to use soap!), then to apply the cream directly or onto a dressing. I've found that you don't need much at all, as it's quite thick, once it's on your skin a little goes a long way, although if you're wearing it under a dressing I'd advise popping a little extra on as it's bound to get absorbed. This also means that one 30g tube will last ages! I found that it definitely soothes the area, even from just my shoes rubbing I totally forgot about it once the cream had taken action. I do think it would be really helpful on deeper cuts and grazes too.

At such a cheap price, I'd highly recommend getting a tube of this, even to keep in the cupboard just in case of any accidents. After just one day of use my foot in already healing and isn't bleeding anymore - the creams been great.
