Any mother worth their salt has a first aid box somewhere, whether it be an actual box or in my case an old chow mein tub, filed with all the essentials needed by a family with young accident prone children!
Alongside the usual plasters and Calpol, there is one thing that I have always deemed important enough to reside in said box, with this being the subject of this review!
The product in questions is - "Germolene antiseptic cream".
If there is one thing that my children share is their ability to fall over thin air, and come out with grazes and cuts galore, with this cream really coming into it's own.
The plus points for mums and children alike is the added local anaesthetic added to the ingredients, so for whatever reason this cream is being administered, it is perfect for calming down young and tearful children, by the promise that yes actually, the boo boo won't hurt very soon, which in itself is enough to stop the tears, the fact that they soon realise you are not just saying that is the added bonus.
The instructions for use are, as you would imagine, perfectly easy. Simply clean the affected area, then smooth a little of the cream over the affected area.
I have to say though, this cream is slightly different to the cream of my youth, with this coming in a tube and actually being creamy in consistency, with the stuff of my youth being a more solid looking cream and coming in a tin.
The similarities however, are comfortingly still there, with the glorious pink colour still being present and the incredibly strong scent still being there, with this being medicinal and spicy all at the same time, giving you the reassuring feeling that yes you are being treated at home, but your mum or dad know exactly what they are doing!
This cream can be used for a plethora or ailments, with the minor cuts and grazes already being mentioned, but this is stated to be ideal for the treatment of minor burns, scalds, blisters, insect bites and even spots and dry and rough skin.
Price wise this is available from around the £2.00 mark, and has a shelf life of a good 18 months.
I was always glad to see my mum grabbing this from her first aid box when I had the misfortune of having a little accident, knowing that it would certainly help make things better, and I am now more than happy to return the favour to my two babies, recommended!
Thanks for reading x
