Advantages: easy to use
Disadvantages: you can't save a tissue for long if you don't use completely., you need a whole tissue for a small insect bite!
I remember Germolene from my childhood days. It came in a round tin with a push off lid. The smell was like 'hospitals' to me and the ointment itself was bright pink and sticky. I have just rediscovered this antiseptic cream as Germolene Antiseptic Wipes made by Bayer.. These are just as effective as the cream but a lot more convenient. I would certainly recommend these slipped into your suitcase before you go on holiday. They are great as part of an emergency first aid kit for cuts, scratches, grazes, bites and prickly heat. Soothe away heat rash and stop itching. These antiseptic wipes are medicated to cleanse, cool and help protect against infection. They are a great idea if you have children. Each wipe is impregnated with cleansers and antiseptic and sealed in its own seperate, foil sachet. This makes them hygenic as they are sealed until you want to use them and convenient to carry in pocket, or bag. These antiseptic wipes comes in a blue and pink cardboard box and the colours and logo (a blue cross) will be familiar to those who have used the cream. Each box contains 10 sachets and costs 2.09 from chemists and supermarkets everywhere. I found these to be quite good value as one tissue is sufficient for most purposes. I actually used one to deal with heat rash and the result was superb. Within a few minutes my skin was cool, much of the redness had gone and the itching had stopped. Certainly worth buying when you are getting ready for your holiday. I don't buy the sticky pink stuff anymore!

- 29/05/02 I have seen the white cream in tubes now but I didn't know they did the wipes. They seem very handy like you say. |
