Advantages: Non-sticky, easy to apply and helps prevent infections

Disadvantages: None really

Boots Antiseptic cream is another one of those products that it is best to have around the house, particularly if you have children around who are always likely to get cuts and scrapes.

Apparently, this product can also be used for treating sunburn, chapped skin and spots, but why you would choose to do so when you can get better more appropriate products is the question that immediately springs to mind. I suppose that it just proves that this is good stuff to have around for general minor emergencies.

Personally, I only use it for treating small cuts and puncture wounds, such as paper cuts or after you've had a thorn stuck in your finger during a session of gardening (not that that happens too often!). Basically, whenever you break the skin, you need to stop the bleeding, clean the wound with clean water and then get some antiseptic cream on it. With the amount of nasty infections around, it's just not worth the risk of not getting some antiseptic on a wound as soon as possible.

The cream rubs in easily enough, although I tend to go for overkill and absolutely smother the cut or wound with it. It's not particularly sticky. Obviously the cream is for external use only and the packet warns that you should wash your hands before and after using it. Although it's ideal for treating kids, it's worth remembering that it is a medicine and should be treated with respect and kept safe somewhere.

If you don't have antiseptic cream in the house then go and get some as soon as possible.

Summary: A household essential, particularly if you have children

Good review - how much does it cost though? Germolene (sp?) can also be used on chapped skin and is brilliant! - if you've been traipsing about in flip flops all summers, its the best thing to get on your heels if they're a bit cracked, sore, burnt....etc!
