Advantages: A good reasonably priced over the counter treatment.
Disadvantages: A little messy to use.
Athlete's foot is a fungal skin infection causing irritation and itching, sometimes a burning sensation to the soles of the feet and in between the toes. It is very common and can be caught by walking barefoot around swimming pools, gyms and even by direct contact with a sufferer, or by using towels or footwear of someone who has this condition. In fact. some people will not know they have this condition but think they merely have dry skin.
There are many over the counter treatments for athletes foot, or alternatively you may prefer to see your doctor. If the condition is slow to clear up, or you're not sure if you have this then I would definitely advise seeking medical help. Feet are so important and as someone having severe problems with ankles and the muscles in my feet I can't understand those who have decent feet not caring for them and appreciating all that feet have to do.
I have previously reviewed Mycota spray treatment which I found to be quite effective but, as it has such an overpowering smell it tends not to be a practical treatment for this conditon. Well not for me, anyway.
I have found creams to be effective.
Treatments in powder form seem to be a good method of preventing the development of this annoying condition.
Boots Dual Action Athlete's foot powder is a good medication that I have found useful in treating this condition. I'm sure it has stopped the condition from taking hold.
Boots Foot Powder is, in my opinion an effective treatment for the annoying skin condition, athlete's foot. Not only athletes foot in fact, but itchiness caused by feet encased for too long in training shoes.
HOW TO USE BOOTS DUAL ACTION POWDER
This powder is suitable for use in both children and adults. It should be applied morning and nigh time, and needs to be applied liberally to clean dry feet. I did find the powder tends to leave the container in bursts and is messy. It's best if possible to use over a bath or towel. It is recommended by Boots that the treatment be continued for at least one week after the athletes foot has cleared as precaution to it returning.
This powder helps to keep the condition at bay. It is a good treatment to shake into socks or shoes, especially in hot weather or if wearing training shoes in hot weather. It will help to soothe the feet.
I find that if the condition has become very troublesome then it's best to use a cream , especially before retiring at night, and then to use the powder in between applications of the cream. I checked to see if this was safe to do and am glad to see that Boots also recommend using a cream alongside the powder.
When applying pay particular attention the arae inbetween the toes.
This is available from the Boots foot care shelf. It is priced at £2.99 for 75 g.
Although it comes out of the container in bursts it does last quite a while and the price seems reasonable.
This is a useful product for the treatment and, I think, for the prevention of athlete's foot. If you are prone to this condition then it's a good precautionary measure. Or if you feel the first signs of the athletes foot, or similar condition, and use this powder quickly, then I've found it's quick to stop the spread.
I think the container design could be better. The top only has one hole and it should be more like a talcum powder dispense or pepper pot rather than salt cellar. It would then be easier to apply and not so messy. That really is the only negative thing I have to say bout this product.
Active Ingredients: Chlorhexidine Hydrocholoride 0.25% w/w
