Advantages: Kept insects away from us and stopped us getting bitten

Disadvantages: Not really suitable for larger areas of skin

I hate insects especially biting ones as they seem to be drawn to me and if there are any around you can be guaranteed they will ignore everyone else and come straight for me. I usually buy some insect repellent spray but I have used these wipes a couple of times and although I don't think they are quite as handy as a spray they do an ok job and because they are so easy to just put in my pocket they are handy to have if I am going in to the countryside for the day.

Although these are tropical strength I have never actually used them in the tropics but I did take them with me last year on a holiday to the Lake District and they did a marvellous job of keeping the midges away from me and stopping me from being covered in bites when we had excursions in to the woods.

They cost £5.75 and in each packet you get 15 individually wipes so they are handy to have around even if you end up not using them all on holiday you can save them for the next time you might be somewhere with biting insects.

These wipes contain 50% DEET which is a chemical used to repel insects and I have to say that using them against midges these did a wonderful job. I can honestly say that although they swarmed near me I didn't get a single bite in the areas where I applied them.

The problem with the wipes is that they are only 'wet' enough to cover smaller areas whereas with a spray you can easily cover your whole body. I didn't have a problem with this as I only used them on my face, arms and legs which were exposed but I think if I was somewhere hotter and wearing less clothing then I definitely would use a spray and save these for night when I was wearing more clothes otherwise I would end up going through too much of them and it would end up working out really expensive.

These wipes were fantastic at repelling insects and I could actually tell that this contained a stronger concentration than normal as insects really seemed to hate it and didn't want to come too near us. I didn't get a single bite and although they are strong they were also safe to use on the kids as well as myself so none of us ended up getting bit.

If you need to apply a lot of repellent then use a spray but for just wiping over exposed skin when wearing clothes then these are pretty great and I can highly recommend them to others looking for something to stop insects biting them.
