For the past couple of days, I've been ill in bed with the worst flu I can remember having. Hot sweats fever bad dreams, headache sore throat and to top it all one mother of a cough.
The kind which starts with a little coughing and soon turns into heaving chesty gasps which nearly make you sick when you can eventually catch your breath.
I have had a sore throat with all the coughing and had to go out to buy medicine, which isn't like me as I usually make herbal drinks.
I'm glad I'm on the mend now and Buttercup syrup has helped.

A 75ml bottle comes in a little cardboard box, which is green and has a yellow buttercup on the front, quite cute really if you can manage to get the chance to look at it throught the fever and coughing.
It has a twist off lid, which isn't child save so it has to be kept out of reach of little hands.
The liquid inside the bottle is thick and brown, it smells of a mixture of licorice, caramel and aniseed, but that might just be my sense of smell gone wrong due to the flu.

A dose for someone my age is two teaspoons three times a day and one before bedtime and to be honest it really does work. I have found that taking this has helped as the coughing fits have died down dramatically over the past two days.
My sore throat has eased and even though I'm still taking this I feel a lot better.

This is a really well known brand and something I have taken over the years as well as given it to my children when they have been ill with a cough. They have to be over the age of two years old before you can give them buttercup syrup, so it's not for the tiny one's.
It seems to get to work right away and is good for chesty and tickly coughs, the thick liquid seems to coat the throat and take away the burning sensation of a chesty cough, as well as loosening the chesty cough.

A small bottle will cost you around £1.30 depending where you buy it, this one cost £1.25 as it was bought at the local garage by my hubbie who has been looking after me and the house whilst I've been in bed, bless him.

If your suffering with a bad cough then this is the stuff to buy, you can really tell the difference after two days of taking it, i'd recommend it.
