Since 1995 I?ve taken cipramil on and off for my severe panic attacks and acute anxiety. When I first started taking it, it seemed to make my panics 1000 times more severe but I was assured by my doctor that once it was in my system I would feel a lot better, could I take any more of these horrible feelings in my body. It took a week to calm my panics down to a level that I could deal with. ***** cipramil ***** Cipramil is also known as Citalopram hydrobromide it belongs to a group of medicines known as antidepressants, which work by relieving the symptoms of depression. When you get your tablets from your doctor they will come in a smallish green, white and yellow box. The box contains two blister strips each containing 14 tablets each one of the tablets contain the active ingredient citalopram hydrobromide. Cipramil comes in 3 strengths 10mg, 20mg and 40mg all strengths have the same ingredients in including maize, starch, lactose, copolyvidone, magnesium stearate, Glycerol, microcrystalline-cellulose, croscarmellose, macrogol and titanium dioxide. ***** What are my tablets for ***** Cipramil is used to treat the symptoms of depression and also to prevent the symptoms returning once your feeling better. Cipramil is also beneficial in relieving panic attacks which is why I was prescribed them. The length of treatment for depression is usually for at least six months and for panic attacks around three months. ***** Before you take Cipramil ***** Never take cipramil if you are allergic to any of the ingredients. Cipramil should never be taken along side any other antidepressants. The herbal remedy st Johns wort should not be taken with Cipramil. You have to let your doctor know if you are taking medication to control fits. Diabetics may need to change their dose of insulin whilst taking Cipramil. If you think you may be pregnant or you are breast-feeding please
tell the doctor, also there are cautions about taking Cipramil if you have a heart problem, kidney or liver complaints. ***** Taking Cipramil ***** How, when and how much Cipramil is to be taken will be decided by the doctor. Swallow the tablet/tablets whole with water, never chew them. Normally the dosage for the patient suffering from depression is 20 up to 60mg per day, patients with panic disorders will be prescribed 10mg for the first week then rising up to 60mg there after. If you miss a dose don?t worry just take the next dose when it is due Never double the dose. If you take to much Cipramil consult the doctor or the nearest hospital immediately. ***** After taking your medication ***** Occasionally thoughts of suicide and self harm may occur in the first few weeks of taking Cipramil tell your doctor immediately, patients who suffer from panic attacks will notice that there panics and anxiety are heightened for the first week (I can say they are 100 times worse) ***** Side effects ***** Apart from my panics I didn?t notice any other side effects at all but some people suffer from feeling sick, lack of appetite, dry mouth, sweating, and drowsiness. (And alls you wanted was to feel better) There are a few more side effects associated with taking Cipramil but please don?t be put off by them as they don?t happen to all that take it. Difficulty sleeping, dizziness, feeling faint, disturbed vision, tremor, movementdisorders, fits difficulty passing urine, a feeling of thirst, allergic reactions such as rash, itching, or swollen mouth and tongue, muscle and joint ache, mild liver disorder and reduced sexual performance, if you suffer from any other unwanted side effect then tell your doctor. I?m happy to say that since being on Cipramil I?ve had no panic attacks and lead a normal everyday life. I wouldn?t recommend taking tablets to anyone but if you are sufferi
ng then these are available to help relieve the symptoms.
