Advantages: instant relief
Disadvantages: doesn't last long at all, burns your mouth
I bought some Clove Oil today, it was a very good price (only 94 p) from my local pharmacist. It is supposed to provide temporary pain relief for toothache, it may be different for different people but I found it to be TOO TEMPORARY, it lasted for all of about 2 minutes. It has a local anaesthetic and mild antispectic effect to relief your toothache It is very simply to use, use something like a cotton bud to apply a small amount to your tooth where it hurts. When I applied it it seemed to really burn my mouth, and for a start I had trouble breathing. It did relive the pain straightaway, but not for very long. But I suppose this is because it says 'for temporary relief'. After reading the instructionS I wasn't too sure about using it too much as it says "repeated use may cause gum damage". And the possible side effects are: * temporary skin irritation * contact dermititis * swollen lips * swollen or ulerated mouth * or sensitivity If you do have any of these side effects you have to stop using straight away and are supposed to contactyour doctor or pharmacist. This is ok if you need instant pain relief, but I think I will stick to using my normal - Soothache!!!

- 19/11/00 I tried this when I had toothache and had two days to wait before I saw my dentist. I like to try 'alternative' remedies, but I won't be trying this stuff again. It tastes foul and doesn't make any difference. It also feels really horrible. I would advise anyone with toothache to go and ask for a tube of something unnatural! |
