Advantages: Relieves pain very quickly even when it is really bad!!

Disadvantages: Can cause addiction so take with care!

Last week as I was getting out of bed to answer the phone (7.15am) I pulled my back really really badly. I was in so much pain I wanted to cry. As I believe that I have a high pain barrier this was unusual for me to want to cry, I even had all 5 children without the aid of painkillers so I knew that I had done something quite bad.

I crawled my way to the settee and found that know matter how I sat I just could not get comfortable, as my side had pulled big time and was agony. I hate taking painkillers as I don't like dosing myself up with tablets, so I started by taking 2 Ibroprofen tablets, but 1 hour later still no difference in the pain. These made no difference whatsoever, my daughter is training to be a Pharmacist told me that I could take 2 paracetamol in between taking Ibroprofen as they work differently. Well this went against all that I would ever usually do, but anything for the pain to go I would do. I tried this for a day and an half and not so much as a glimpse of relieve. So what was I to do, then my daughter came home with some Co-Codamol, this is a mixture of Paracetamol & Codeine, ( Paracetamol 500mg and Codeine 8mg per caplet).

I tried these and within half an hour the pain had started to ease and by the time an hour had passed I was completely painfree the first time for a long time it seemed. I have since been taking these and have found that they really do work and now ( touch wood!) my back seems to be well on the mend, with just the slight twinge of where I pulled it, so I am no longer taking these tablets anymore.

You do have to be very careful when taking these tablets as there is a warning on the box that taking them on a regular basis can lead to you becoming addicted to them, you hear so often of people that are painkiller addicted so be careful when taking these. Also they warn that taking a painkiller for headaches too often or for too long can make them worse. So although they do intially work they can be your downfall as well.

These tablets cannot be taken with any other paracetamol containing products, nor should you take these if you suffer with severe liver disease or if you are pregnant, don't take more than 8 tablets in 24 hours. These can also be given to children from the age of 6years(although I wouldn't myself).

They are in a caplet form so easier to swallow. You get 32 tablets, that come in a handy bubble pack of 8, so you can always put some in your bag or pocket if you need to take them with you. The back of the box has braille writing, so that is handy for anyone who is blind so they can tell what tablets they are taking. My box cost £1.99 which is the best £1.99 that I have ever spent to relieve the pain so quickly.

So if you are ever in pain then I would strongly recmommend these tablets as they do work very quickly, but not on a regular basis though. 5 star rating from me!

Summary: Well worth having a pack of these in your medicine box for emergencies!!

I am surprised you can buy these over the counter. All compounds with codiene were prescription only medication at one time because of the addiction element associated with codiene.
Wise advice - well reviewed.
