Contac 400

Just to let you know, this product has been re-packaged and has changed its name slightly to- Contac, they have dropped the 400. I first bought these tablets for my other half during one of this severe bouts of "Man Flu"(and we all know how bad that is, don't we?) on recommendation from my sister. I was at the point where I needed something to help him or I was possibly going to strangle him. These used to be what I took whenever I had a cold, just because they totally dried it up and stopped my nose dripping like a tap. Then they changed the formula. Basically they took out the one ingredient that made any difference, belladonna alkaloids and replaced it with, wel, nothing. I've tried the new formula and it makes not a jot of difference at all. It annoys me that they take out an effective ingredient from OTC medication because there are certain people who an't/shouldn't use it (in this instance the ingredient is dangerous to people with impaired kidney function) Why not just print a warning? I'm not a great lover of pumping my body with chemicals but there are times (especially when you have children) when you just haven't got time to be ill. When I get a cold that leaves my nose streaming, I have to reach for the Contac 400's. Whilst they make you feel as though you are on a different planet (there are those that would say I'm always on a different planet?!), they do dry up the cold so that at least you can function relatively normally, until you are over the worst. Each capsule lasts for 12 hours so in theory you take 2 per day. Contac 400 used to be quite good. When I used them years ago, they dried up my cold pretty quickly, but they seem to have changed. Although the principle is still the same, thee's something not quite right about them. They claim to help you breathe clearly for up to 12 hours at a time, so the idea is to take some at night before oyu go to bed and again in the morning when you get up. Having just had a dose of something very similar to flu, I bought some of these to try and get me through it, so that I could at least sleep at night if nothing else. They didn't work, basically.
