Good for foot infections but put something on the floor before you use this! (Daktarin Activ Dual Action Spray Powder)

I bought Daktarin Activ after develpoing an itchy flaky red bizarre foot problem. After bearing my feet to the scrutiny of varous friends, we decided amongst ourselves I possibly had athletes foot or some other infection and I trotted off to the chemist to see what remedies were out there.

I settled on Daktarin, priced at £3.93 for a 100g spray can.

Dactarin contains the active ingredient Miconazole that is used to treat fungal and bacterial infections. The can promised "Treatment, relief and protection", so I thought I would hold it to this and see if I could clear up my foot issue.

The dosage is to wash your skin and dry well, spray from three inches away twice daily. You can also spray this into your socks and shoes. Regular use promises to prevent against the infection coming back and it advises that you keep using the spray twice daily until your foot is back to normal.

So I set about spraying my foot, making the silly mistake of spraying my naked foot when I was stood on a laminated floor. (the tin does say do not spray onto polished surfaces...). This turned my foot white and left a white outline of my foot on the floor.... I found this was quite hard to clean off. My foot remained white throughout the treatment- so i would not advise you use this if you wear sandals, strapy shoes or anything other than full coverage foot wear or you will look like you have had your foot painted in places with tippex.

The can does contain a lot of smal print- things like do not use if you are or are planning to become pregnant without your doctors advise, do not spray in eyes or on hair or nails and may cause an allergic reaction-so there are some considerations to be made before you use this if you have other medical conditions etc.

The spray was cold, but I found it provided instant relief from the itching and piece of mind I was applying something antibacterial to my feet. It was a little uncomfortable after a few days as I had peeling skin inbetween my toes and it was a little awkward to spray inbetween the toes without covering my hand in white spray too... But after a week of regular use I did notice a definite improvement and would certainly recommend keeping a tin of this in your bathroom if you are prone to foot infections such as athletes foot.
