Advantages: Soothes and eases the problem

Disadvantages: Nothing

For those of you who read my reviews regularly, you'll be very aware that I have a massive foot problem. One of my biggest bugbears, and something which I have sadly suffered since I hit puberty, is athlete's foot. I try and have tried just about every foot cream, spray and ointment going and one of the ones I use fairly regularly is Daktarin Athletes' Foot Cream which I buy in a 30g tube and it costs me £5.65 from Boots. The tube lasts me roughly about a month but then I do have to use it every day. My dear other half also suffers from very similar foot problems to me and we have to ensure that we do not share towels (or creams and ointments) and that we both wear socks for bed when we are having a flare up.

I personally quite like this cream as I think it is pretty effective. However, there is nothing I have tried to date which has totally managed to eliminate the problem recurring. The active ingredient in this cream I am told by my GP is Miconazole Nitrate. Athlete's Foot is a fungal infection and if left untreated, personally speaking, it can get pretty nasty and aggressive. When I was younger I tended not to use anything and stupidly hoped the problem would go away by itself - it didn't and the result was that it just becae very badly infected and I was on antibiotics for long periods of time which resulted in my having stained teeth and spots as side effects.
The particular fungal infection I am prone to often spreads to my outer ears, my trunk and my groin, even my hands and scalp if I am in a really bad state and I may have to take time off from work as I can look pretty grim.

I use this Daktarin Cream every day and put plenty on, making sure it is spread in well between my toes and all over the affected area. It smells quite pleasant is is absorbed easily and I do get relief from the fungal infection pretty quickly. However, it is vital that I keep applying this cream for AT LEAST ten days after the infection appears to have subsided, otherwise it just comes back worse than it did before.

Overall, I do rate this cream pretty highly and it is one of the (very)many I woud happily recommend to anyone with a similar problems to mine. Just remember to keep applying for ten days afterwards (and possily longer, in some cases).
