Advantages: soothes those muscle pains
Disadvantages: hot hot hot smell
Deep heat. I can remember my mum suddenly getting up out of her chair and walking around the room she used to get cramp in her leg. After it had eased a little she would find her red tube of deep heat and put a little on her fingers and rub it into the aching muscle. Whenever anyone in the family had a sore aching muscle she would apply this to that part.
In my medicine box I always have a tube of deep heat sometimes after football my husband has muscular aces and pains so out comes the deep heat and massaged into his muscles.
I must have been over pruning in the garden this weekend as my arms ached so I rubbed a little deep heat .I opened the tubes screw cap and squeezed a tiny amount of the thick white cream onto my finger. I then rubbed it in to my affected muscle, immediately I could smell it. Its a very strong antiseptic smell that is unmistakable this smell lingers for quite a while.
I could feel my eyes watering and my nose running. I continued to rub it in till it was absorbed into my skin.
My skin felt very warm in fact hot and after a few minutes the ache had eased. The heat cools down after about 20 minutes.
If the muscle pain comes back I can use it again 2 or 3 times a day.
This deep heat cream is suitable for any muscle pain, arthritis, backaches, sprains and bruises, fibrosis, sprains, chilblains, and rheumatic pains.
Active ingredients are Menthol and Methyl Silicate, eucalyptus oil and turpentine oil.
This cream is an anaesthetic and it also helps the circulation getting oxygen to the muscles and relaxing them.
This cream should not be used on children under 5.
Do not use on broken skin and be careful not to get it in your eyes. I do remember one night after rubbing my husbands back with this I touched his penis and we discovered a new way to get it hot and throbbing he say it was not very pleasant though, so do wash your hands after use.
The deep heat tube comes in a bright red cardboard box like a toothpaste pack. I bought our deep heat at the local chemists but it is easy to get in most supermarkets.
A 35g tube in Tesco costs £2.05, also available in 67 or 100g tubes. it is also available in a spray tin
Summary: a cream to relax thyose overworked muscles
