Advantages: easy to use, works almost instantly

Disadvantages: the smell

Having moved when moving at a critical point when undergoing an emergency C-Section over 20 years ago I have suffered with back pain which isn't debilitating but annoying. I'd say it was mild- middle on the pain threshold guides so my sympathy goes out to anyone who suffers any sort of pain.

Luckily the prescribed painkillers keep it under control but sometimes, because my spine is a bit stiff, I occasionally 'pull' a muscle - this is when I reach out for my trusted Deep Heat' which works (for me)almost instantaneously.

It costs £3.99 which, in my opinion, is worth every penny for the relief it provides. It's also available in tubes which are handy if you're going away or for the gym bag etc.

Personally I prefer the spray because the cream is a bit sticky, I can't easily get rid of the (unpleasant) smell on my fingers & hands plus can't reach areas of my back without asking for assistance.

When you use Deep Heat everyone knows about it & the pong is so strong (ever smelt 'Algipan? - it's the same!) but this is worth putting up with because of the relief.

It's obviously for external use only & you need to avoid sensitive areas (you know where I mean..) it's easy to use & on the can it recommends you use 2 or 3 squirts to the painful part of the body - spraying about 6" away from the body. massgae isn't necessary & you can use it 3 times per day.

When you use it you'll notice a warming sensation as it penetrates the area & the relief is evident very quickly.

It's suitable for the relief of muscular & rheumatic pain, lumbago, sprains, strains & sciatica. It tells us on the can that it's 'also recommended when necessary before & after exercise'.

WARNINGS
** I'd recommend that you read the cautions on the can before purchase as there are some people who are not advised to use it -eg those with asthma, those who are allergic to asprin, people with sensitive skin etc etc **
** I've just read a review where someone had an allergic reaction the Deep Heat so it may well be worth seeing a doctor or trying a skin test first? **

The active ingredients are listed quite clearly on the reverse of the container - they don't make sense to me & are chemical names - but are there for anyone who understands them!

There's also a caution on the can as it's 'extremely flammable'.

summary
~
- worth the £3.99 for the relief it gives me.
- easy to use.
- smells very strong.
- works for me but would highly recommend the warning on the can before purchase.

If you use this a lot like I used to it might be worth looking in 99p stores, I used to be able to get full size tubes of the branded one in there :o)

Wish I could agree with you skidd, (posting above me) but personally, this works alot better then ibuprofen gel which has absolutly no effect on me or my muscles!
