Advantages: Very good at masking pain

Deep Heat is a cream that you can rub into an area to stop it hurting. However one of the ways in which deep heat stops you hurting is by masking the pain with a different sensation. This different sensation is not surprisingly of heat, and different people react to it in different ways. Depending on how you react to this sensation you will either find Deep Heat useful or not useful.

I really like the sensation and do not find it painful at all, which means that I use deep heat quite a lot (or at at least as often as I get muscular pains). On the other hand, I know people who find the sensation that deep heat gives you to be painful and they thus don't see any point in swapping one pain for another.

A final point is on the smell of the deep heat. Again this is something of a love hate, but this is somewhat regardless because the point here is that the smell is very strong. That means that deep heat is fine to use in a sporting environment or in your home, but not in the morning for example if you are about to go off to work.
