As we all know the weather has been just awful the last couple of days. I was fed up of being in doors yesterday so decided to hike up to my friends house and play. I had both the boys in the pram and we got to a steep hill and my foot slipped out from underneath me and I smacked down onto my knees. My first thought was 'ouch', my second was thank god I didn't let go of the pram or the boys would have been in the road and my third was, I hope no one was watching. I managed to get up and push the pram to my friends house without another fall but my knee was in agony so she handed me some 'Deep heat' to see if that would help.

Deep heat is a menthol type cream that helps with muscle ache, sprains and pulls and you can find it in any department store for around £3 for a 67g tube.

The cream has a really strong smell that will be apparent as soon as you open the top. It reminds me of Vicks but there is a more medicated scent that comes a long with it.

When you first applied it to the skin, it's very greasy so it's worth taking a little less than you think you need. I found that I was rubbing it in for a while before it soaked into my skin too.

After a little while my knee started to get a little hot which was quite a nice sensation and I find this be quite relaxing.

My knee was really stiff after falling and if I sat still for a while it got significantly worse. After applying this, it not only helped with the pain but I wasn't as stiff and I found that I could bend my knee more. It was still very tender to touch but at least I was able to move around and walk home with a little less discomfort.

I bought a tube of this on my way from my friends house and have been using it regularly since my fall and it's really helped. I'd definitely recommend it if you think you can put up with the smell which does stink the whole place out.
