Advantages: takes the pain away
Disadvantages: ?
Dequacaine are my preferred lozenge when I have a sore throat. I have tried others but these are more effective Dequacaine contain decualinium and benzocaine. They are a local anaesthetic with an antibacterial agent. The local anaesthetic numbs the throat; the anti bacterial agent attacks the infection. Decquacaine are not suitable for under 12 year olds. If over 12 suck 1 lozenge every 2 hrs not more than 8 in 24 hrs. I suffer with sore throats frequently, my throat seems to be my weak point any germs around at school attack it. I always carry a dequacaine tablet with me in my handbag. These tablets are best sucked slowly then my throat feels a little numb. This relieves the pain/soreness for quite a long time. After sucking one of these it is difficult to drink a hot drink in case of burning so be warned make sure any food or drink is cool first. My sore throats usually clear up after a day or 2 but if you have a sore throat that goes on longer than a day or two recommend seeing a doctor. These tablets are not recommended for all they occasionally have an allergic reaction or a blood disorder, which gives a blue tinge to your lips and nails. The packet gives its contradictions on it. So do read before taking. Dequacaine are packaged in a white and red box available over chemist counters with out prescription for the price of £2.99p for 24 lozenges. When I have a sore throat my doctor recommends gargling with salt water. I do this too but dequacaines are nicer. Thanks for reading the sore throat and sinus pain I ve suffered this past few days has gone now have a good weekend Mary
