Advantages: Smells gorgeous and caring on the skin
Disadvantages: Cannot be located in many stores
Unfortunately, when it comes to toiletries and fragrances I am extremely weak-willed, particularly as I have bags upon bags of shower gels, bubble baths and soaps etc in the back of my wardrobe, which I tend to hoard. A product that I absolutely adore for using on my face is Dettol Anti-bacterial Soap, which is manufactured by Reckitt Benckiser (UK) Ltd and this review discusses my experience of using the product.
APPEARANCE OF THE PACKAGING
The soap is presented to us in a single bar, which weighs 125g and measures approximately 9 cm in length, 6 cm in width and 2½ cm in depth, so we receive a good sized bar for our money. The thick paper packaging is considerably appealing with its' colours of green and white, which immediately makes me think clean and fresh. The familiar Dettol sword logo and trademark is situated off-centre and on the upper left hand side is the Royal Crest, by Appointment to Her Majesty. On the lower right hand corner is an image of the palm of a hand together with the words "Dermatologically Tested". I would point out that the appearance of my bar differs slightly from the photograph provided by Dooyoo.
WHY DID I PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT?
I have previously purchased Dettol Anti-bacterial soap, but unfortunately, had not been able to find it again in the shops for a long period of time, as it seems that the major supermarkets do not stock this product. Whilst out shopping a couple of months ago I was delighted to locate it in Superdrug, which resulted in me purchasing half a dozen bars. What I favour with this soap is that it is anti-bacterial as well as being caring for the skin.
Whilst I am not a great fan of the aroma of medical products I absolutely adore the scent of Dettol, as in my opinion it is extremely clean and fresh. The soap is easily removed from the outer packaging by undoing one of the side flaps and simply sliding out the bar. As you would probably expect from the outer packaging, the appearance of the soap is refreshing and is presented to us in a calming light yellow and etched in the centre on the upper section of the bar is the Dettol sword logo and trademark.
The soap lathers fairly quickly when it makes contact with water and feels very soft, rich and luxurious. On the rear of the packaging we are advised that the soap contains an active skin moisturiser and this is clearly evident, as both my hands and face always feel soft and smooth without any dry patches. We are informed that this product kills and gives protection from bacteria including E.coli and Salmonella.
This is an absolutely beautiful soap and now that I've discovered it again I will continue to use it due to its' fresh and clean fragrance and the fact that it kills bacteria. I generally favour pump dispenser soaps throughout my home, particularly as they're easier to use when your hands are dirty. Consequently, whilst this is an anti-bacterial soap I do not use it in the kitchen, as I found that when I needed to wash my hands after a spot of gardening bits of dirt were sticking to the soap, so it's only used in my bathroom where you will also find another brand soap pump dispenser.
A real positive with this soap is that it does not turn soggy when placed in your soap dish, as there is nothing worse when a bar of soap turns to a mushy pulp! I am happy to report that I have never suffered any adverse effects from using this product, which is a huge bonus for me, particularly as I experience major problems with my hands during the winter months where the skin tends to split and bleed. The soap easily rinses away and always leaves both my hands and face feeling soft and smooth.
There is a long list of ingredients displayed on the reverse of the packet and due to its' length I do not intend providing them in this review.
PRICE AND AVAILABILITY
As previously stated, I have been unable to locate this product in any of the supermarkets, which I find a little strange, particularly as Dettol is one of the leading brand names. However, Superdrug regularly stock this soap where you can purchase a 125g bar for 75p.
I cannot recommend this product highly enough and consequently, it receives 5 stars from me.
I hope you found my review useful and would thank you for reading.
