Dettol is an antiseptic disinfectant liquid that can be used on either cuts and bites; or around the house as a disinfectant. We always have a bottle in, mainly because it's such a useful and versatile product.

Each bottle of Dettol Antiseptic Disinfectant lasts a good few months and you can pick up 250ml from Boots or your local supermarket for around £2.00 and a 750ml bottle will set you back approximately £3.50.

I've got to say, there is nothing sexy about the packaging - but it is easy to spot - the bottle is clear so you can see the Dettol inside and it looks like dark urine! But it kills germs effectively and that's the main thing!

Each bottle contains pine oil, isopropyl alcohol, castor oil soap, caramel, water and concentrate for cutaneous solution. The active ingredient that helps to fight bacteria is Chloroxylenol B.P.4.8%w/v. Each bottle comes with a safety cap but it should be kept out of the reach of children.

Using Dettol is simple, you either add a capful to a bucket of water to use on floors and surfaces, or you can dilute a tiny bit into a smaller amount of water to clean cuts and grazes; and to sooth bites and stings.

Dettol has a distinct smell which is quite unpleasant, but it does smell very clean.

I have used Dettol Antiseptic Disinfectant on adults, children, even my dog - and it has never failed me - it is great at cleaning wounds and it also helps them to heal quickly. If I have a number of cuts and bruises on my body then I've even been known to put a drop into my bath!

I think that Dettol Antiseptic Disinfectant is a great product to have because you can use it virtually anywhere and it kills 99.9% of bacteria. Five stars!
